You may have noticed a scary looking warning at the top of your AdSense page that says “Earnings at risk — You need to fix some ads.txt file issues to avoid severe impact to your revenue.” This usually means that you need to upload an ads.txt file to your SquareSpace site.

Don’t freak out.

Though SquareSpace doesn’t have an official way to solve this problem, you can easily add an ads.txt file to your site. Adding this file will protect your site from ad hackers and will give your site a wider range of advertisers through AdSense.

Here’s how to add an ads.txt file to your SquareSpace site.

Upload a File

Go to your AdSense homepage and click on the side of the error message that says Fix Now. Next, click on the Download button. Save the file to your computer.

Now, go to your SquareSpace dashboard and click Page. Click on your homepage in the navigation and then hover over your homepage on the right of the screen. A menu will pop up. Click Edit.

Somewhere on the homepage, type ads.txt. Highlight the text and click on the link option in the text…
